Year 5 have made a great start to the Spring term.
Y5 have started a new text to explore in English called Journey to the River Sea. We spent our lessons this week, unpicking interesting vocabulary and phrases used in the text and following Maia on her journey to the Amazon. We discussed and explored the scenery of a river and used our senses to create a setting description.
In Maths, Y5 have continued to work hard on fractions and have been very impressive in using their knowledge of fractions to answer these questions. Well done Y5!
In Science, Y5 have started their new topic in understanding materials and it's properties. We started by identifying and describing a material. We discussed further on what materials they are made from and why this material is used for this purpose.
In Geography, we have started our new topic of Raging Rivers, we have begun by looking at the water cycle and its use with rivers. We have also looked at why the water cycle may also cause rivers to flood and how this process is done.
In Art, Y5 have been introduced to the skill of printing and by the end of the Spring half term will be able to use techniques to create a print of a river.
In RE, Y5 are now looking at the different ways in which people worship and their reasons why.
In PSHE, Y5 will be looking at relationships and learning how to be a good friend as well as recognising a good friend.
