Emma Carroll is a bestselling author of children’s books, in particular historical fiction. Initially an English teacher for twenty years, Carroll turned her hand to writing children’s fiction and has since published over fifteen books, won numerous awards and been nominated for many more. Her stories are usually historical and always led by a cast of impressive female characters.
Carroll’s debut novel Frost Hollow Hall won the North East Book Award; her secondnovel, The Girl Who Walked On Air was nominated for the Carnegie Medal; Letters From The Lighthouse, was chosen as a 'Waterstones Book of the Month', as was Secrets of a Sun King.
Carroll’s newest release Escape to the River Sea, takes inspiration from Eva Ibbotson’s modern children’s classic Journey to the River Sea. Featuring well loved characters, Carroll returns to the Amazon rainforest post World War II in an atmospheric and compelling tale.
