Breakfast with a Book 🥞 📚

An excellent week in Year 1!

In English we have been writing instructions for Boris the Bear, telling how how to be a perfect Westwood pupil! We explored new types of words, such as 'time words' and 'bossy verbs' and used them in our instructional sentences. 

In Maths, we have been learning about the part-whole model and writing addition number sentences. The children were resilient and tried very hard with their tricky maths! Well done Year 1!

In Geography, we thought about the ways we could improve the school grounds and created posters to show our ideas. 

We had a wonderful day on Tuesday wear we wore yellow for 'World Mental Health Day'. The children joined in with a range of activities including mindfulness and yoga🧘‍♀️. 

On Friday morning, parents were invited into the class to have breakfast with their child whilst reading a storybook. Thank you to all the parents who came! The children had an excellent time!
