Creative Crocodiles, Maths Masters and Map Explorers: A Week in Year 3!
Date: 4th Oct 2024 @ 3:55pm
We've had a busy and exciting week in Year 3!
In English, we had lots of fun retelling The Enormous Crocodile, but with a twist – we created our own endings! Some pupils thought the crocodile should eat the children (uh-oh!), while others decided he should be caught and turned into crocodile soup! Everyone loved adding their own ideas to this classic story.
In Maths, we've been working on addition and subtraction, focusing on adding and subtracting 1s, 10s, and 100s to 3-digit numbers. The children have been great at spotting patterns and using what they know to solve problems quickly and accurately.
During RE, we explored the features of a synagogue. The children learned about the important items found inside and what they represent. It was fascinating to discover how each part plays a role in the worship and community life within a synagogue.
In Geography, we have been learning to use maps. This week, we practised using four-figure grid references to locate landmarks across the United Kingdom. The children loved plotting points on the map, and the rhyme “along the corridor and up the stairs” was a great help in remembering how to read the grid correctly!
Well done to all the children for their hard work this week!
