Earth to Y5 ðŸ”

It has been an exciting week for Y5. In Science, we have started our new topic of Earth and Space. We had a visitor come in to show us what the solar system looks like and taught us interesting facts about each of the planets. We used a mnemonic to help us remember the order of the planets.
In English, Y5 planned and wrote their own alternate ending to The Pirate Queen. We acted in freeze frames of our alternate ending, where Grace O'Malley defeats the Tudor queen, Elizabeth I.
In Maths, Y5 have looked at comparing and ordering fractions. Using their times tables, they were able to find out which fractions were greater, smaller or equal. As well as this, Y5 have started to add fractions and convert improper fractions to mixed numbers.
In topic, Y5 have started their new topic on Marvellous Maps. We explored the differences between Tudor maps and modern maps and discussed which is more accurate.
