Exploring, Measuring, and Erupting! 📏🧪

What an exciting week we have had in Year 3! We have been busy learning new things across all our subjects, and we can't wait to share what we've been up to.

In maths, we started our new unit on measuring. We had so much fun using rulers and metre sticks to measure different items around our classroom – we even measured each other! It was great to see how different objects compare in size, and we loved working together to record our measurements accurately.

In English, we have been working hard on writing an explanation text. Our focus was on informing people how to survive an explosive volcano! We thought about the dangers of an eruption and explained step by step what someone should do to stay safe. We included time conjunctions, technical vocabulary, and clear explanations – just like real experts!

Our science lessons have been all about soil. We explored different types of soil and investigated their properties. We looked closely at their texture, colour, and what they are made of. It was fascinating to discover how soil can be so different depending on where you find it!

In geography, we became volcano experts! We explored how volcanoes erupt, where they are located around the world, and what causes them to explode. It was amazing to learn about the powerful forces inside the Earth that create these natural wonders.

One of our favourite parts of the week was in PE, where we took on the challenge of the climbing circuit and climbing apparatus. We pushed ourselves to climb higher, move with confidence, and improve our strength and balance. It was great to see everyone encouraging each other and giving it their best effort!

It has been a fantastic week full of new discoveries and exciting learning. We can't wait to see what next week brings!
