Mental health awareness week 💛

This week, Y5 have discussed ways in which we can prioritise our mental wellbeing. We discussed emotions that can be quite strong and practised techniques that will help us manage them.
In the morning, we used colour therapy to create a calm and productive start to our day!
We used breathing exercises, meditation and yoga throughout the week to remind ourselves to be kind to ourselves and minds first.
We also used our conversation station to discuss what emotions might be felt in the image and what advice we can give to the character.
Grounding technique was a great way to focus on 5 things for each of our senses.
We used the text Children who changed the world by Marcia Williams to help find and understand mindfulness through literature. We learned about how children have rights to be kept safe, happy and healthy and why keeping our environments safe is also important for our mental health.
