The Colour Monster ?

Another super week for Year 1!

In English, we have been exploring 'The Colour Monster', a story about feelings. We started the week by identifying the feelings in the story and linked these to times we feel each emotion. We orally rehearsed our sentences and ended the week creating our own 'feelings jars', describing what makes us feel happy, calm and loved. 

We also incorporated The Colour Monster into areas of our continuous provision. In the Finger Gym area, we have been threading the colour monsters with laces. In the craft area, the children created feelings jars of their own! The children were excellent at describing when they feel each emotion.

In Maths, we have been using tens frames and counters to find 'one more' and 'one less' of a number.
