Year 3: Spectacular Scientists and Aspiring Artists 👨🔬👩🏽🎨
Date: 23rd Jan 2025 @ 8:11am
In Year 3, we have had an exciting week full of exploration, investigation, and creativity, and the children have amazed us with their enthusiasm and curiosity throughout.
This week, we visited the science centre for an exciting hands-on workshop. The children became real-life scientists, testing the durability and permeability of different types of rocks. They carefully observed and recorded their findings, developing their understanding of the properties of materials. It was wonderful to see their teamwork and scientific thinking in action!
In geography, we’ve been delving into the fascinating world of volcanoes. We explored how they erupt and learned about tectonic plates. To make the learning fun and memorable, we used Oreos to model divergent, convergent, and transform plate boundaries!
In art, we were inspired by the vibrant work of artist Leonid Afremov. The children explored the use of hot and cold colours to create mood and contrast. They then applied these techniques to their own artwork, producing some fantastic artwork!
It’s been a week filled with hands-on learning and creativity, and we’re so proud of all the effort the children have put into their work.
